A woman was shot Thursday morning by security guards outside the CIA headquarters in Virginia, a person familiar with the matter told NBC News.

Shots were fired early in the morning, prompting what the CIA said was a “security incident.” The shooting was nonfatal.

The woman who crashed into a gate at CIA headquarters has been preliminarily identified as 27-year-old Monia Spadaro, according to two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the incident.

Spadaro is being treated for the gunshot wounds, and law enforcement agencies are investigating whether or not she may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.

There is no known connection between the CIA incident this morning and last night’s shooting of two Israeli government employees in Washington, D.C.

Court records show that Spadaro was found guilty on the 2021 DUI, according to Arlington General District Court.

The main gate is currently closed and employees were advised to seek alternative routes, a CIA spokesperson said.

Fairfax County police said patrol officers responded to the 900 block of Dolley Madison Boulevard in McLean around 4 a.m. to assist CIA police with traffic control following the incident.

Fairfax officers are still assisting with traffic support, police said in a statement on Thursday.
