David Rubenstein, the longtime chairman of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, is praising the center’s staff and leadership one day after being dismissed.
A new Kennedy Center board, appointed by President Donald Trump, ousted Rubenstein Wednesday and installed Trump as the new chairman.
In a post on X Thursday morning, Rubenstein didn’t mention Trump, but he thanked the institution’s leadership and staff for “helping to make the Center the beacon for the performing arts its founders intended.”
Rubenstein, who served as chairman for 14 years, added that “President Kennedy would be proud of your selfless work, your long hours, your commitment to excellence, and your dedication to the performing arts.”
