Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen addressed reporters after returning from El Salvador on Friday where he met with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was mistakenly deported there by President Donald Trump’s administration.
Abrego Garcia told Van Hollen that he has been moved from the notorious Salvadoran prison known as CECOT to a detention center with better conditions.
The senator told reporters the case is more than just about Abrego Garcia: “It’s about protecting the constitutional rights of everybody who resides in the United States.”
